Scouts hit the mark
UNDOUBTEDLY cheesy but undeniably charming, Scouting For Girls proved to be a crowd pleaser as they delighted the Doncaster audience with their catchy pop songs.
With a surprising mix of audience members ranging from excitable five- year-olds to gangs of burly blokes (far too many of whom knew every word to every track), I didn't know what to expect from their performance.
Dubious as I was after the band reeled off some of the big hits from the album including 'It's Not About You' and 'Elvis Ain't Dead' with bags of audience interaction and participation along the way it was difficult not to join in and make the most of the fun atmosphere that the band had created.
The trio instantly had the crowd on side with their promises to return next year and cover songs including Elvis classic "Can't Help Falling in Love" that went down particularly well with the crowd.
Apart from a few duff tracks along the way including a peculiar love song to presenter Michaela Strachan and a rant about going to Glastonbury Festival the band delivered a polished performance.
Lead singer Roy Stride also deserves a special mention for his amazing magical trick of getting from the stage up to the balcony in just seconds - and I am still struggling to figure out how on earth he did it.
Overall a really fun performance that impressed diehard fans and sceptics alike - confiriming that Scouting For Girls are definitely worth seeing live.
