Barnsley-based Billington Holdings Plc has renewed its sponsorship of local nature reserve, RSPB Old Moor, for the third year running.

Billingtons was presented with a certificate to commemorate the renewal of the sponsorship by Mike Harris, corporate partnership manager for RSPB Northern England, and Craig Hartley, RSPB Old Moor visitor services manager.

Karen Moore, group SHEQ co-ordinator for Billingtons, said: “This sponsorship highlights our commitment in supporting local causes and helps towards our aim of promoting sustainability for future generations. We are incredibly proud to have sponsored this great cause over the last few years and we look forward to our continued relationship.”

As well as working towards the company’s sustainability credentials, the sponsorship also provides Billingtons with a discounted rate for hiring Old Moor’s meeting rooms; enables them to hold work events such as bird watching, walking and pond dipping, which aids in employee engagement; and provides corporate membership passes, enabling employees and their families to gain free entry to over 200 RSPB reserves across the UK.

Billington Holdings Plc was one of a number of companies to attend a corporate evening at RSPB Old Moor in the summer, where staff and their families went along to do some pond dipping, walking and generally enjoy the reserve.

RSPB Old Moor is home to hundreds of different species of wildlife and provides wonderful facilities.
