After two live sell out tours, award winning entertainer Doug Segal is embarking on a brand new comedy mind reading tour that turns the audience into mind reading mentalists.
And he is set to arrive in Doncaster on May 23 with a date at Cast.
Expect comedy, animation and interaction as well as mind blowing miracles performed by you, the audience.
Pushing the boundaries of comedy mind reading, Doug will find a random audience member and turn them into a mind reading mentalist (via the Brainmatiser 3000™). The audience member will perform all the mind reading in the show with Doug simply acting as guide, a feat that has never been done before.
Along with physical and prop based comedy, animation, live music, evil 70’s mentalist, Victorian detectives, a Buddhist monk and goats, comedy sketches are also interwoven into the narrative thread. These are both live and also live interaction between pre-recorded video, starring the two people on stage - Doug and the audience member.
There is absolutely nothing spooky or supernatural in what Doug is doing. Everything is achieved using one or more of the following skills from Doug’s background in psychology & advertising: persuasion techniques, statistics, reading body language, subliminal influence and two key advertising skills: “Cheating & Lying”, all done with laughs, rakish charm and a rock & roll attitude.
Part two handed sketch comedy show, part astonishing acts of mind reading and mind control in this show – the audience are the star. Come on the ride of your life as Doug opens the doors to his Brain Academy.
He has appeared on BBC One’s New Years Eve coverage with two live spots with Natasha Kaplinski & Claire Balding. The audience of 9.5 million live viewers is a record for any performer of this type in the UK and a worldwide record for live performance. He has also performed a trick on BBC3’s Mischief with the presenter, Becca Wilcox. He has also predicted the results of the 2012 Olympics on BBC Radio Scotland, performed for Nippon TV in “London Entertains”. Doug is a regular guest on Holland’s highest rated chat show Jensen! on RTL5.
He has been described by TimeOut magazine as “the UK’s best kept entertainment secret”. The Metro newspaper said “one of the funnier more entertaining mental illusionists”. He has won awards for the Best Cabaret Brighton Fringe 2012, and the Three Weeks Editors Award for being one of the ten best things (out of 2,700) at Edinburgh Fringe 2012. Other live performances include; two sell out UK tours, two sell out nights headlining the comedy and cabaret section of The Hull Freedom Festival 2012 and headlining the penultimate night of The Quartz Arts Festival.
