Election fever hit Swinton Community School when it held its Student Leadership Group elections.
Students have been applying for the position of Year Ambassador on the newly-formed Student Leadership Group. Replacing the existing School Council, this new venture will enable students to lead on a number of key areas within school such as clubs and societies, environment, charity and student welfare as well as having more power to influence the strategic vision of the school.
Associate assistant head teacher, Kim Yuill, said: “This new school initiative coincides nicely with the current national political scene and provides our students with a better understanding of the election process in the UK.
“Our students, once again, proved that they are articulate, knowledgeable and embrace all aspects of school life. A fantastic contribution from all concerned”.
Keeping in line with the current national policy of first-past-the-post electoral system, students from Years 7 to 13 were initially invited to submit an application of interest before they made presentations to their respective year groups including Ashleigh Davies (pictured).
