Enter world of walking

WALK this way and put your best foot forward for the Heron Way Walking Festival.

Organised by the Doncaster Group of the Ramblers, the event, which is already up and running aims to introduce walkers to the wonderful world of walks in and around town.

The Heron Way is a series of linear walks linking the park and ride facility at Rossington with the park and ride site at Castle Hills and passes through countryside, nature reserves, country parks and is a total distance of 30 miles.

To mark the official opening, a series of walks are being held with the latest two being on Saturday. A long walk from Conisbrough to Castle Hills in excess of 13 miles sets off from Conisbrough railway station at 10am and takes in Barnburgh, Hickleton and High Melton with a shorter six mile walk from Hooton Roberts to High Melton taking in parts of the Trans Pennine Trail sets off from Hooton Roberts parish church at 10am.

A further walk from High Melton to Hooton Pagnell will be held on June 20 and a final stroll between Hooton Pagnell and Woodlands on June 27.

Full details of the Heron Way walks are available from the Tourist Information office in High Street, Doncaster. Contact David Gadd on 01302 745611 for more details.
