A teenage glamour girl is all set to taste the bright lights of Las Vegas as she aims to put Doncaster on the map at a worldwide modelling contest.

Talented 17-year-old Daisy Ward is bidding for success in the gambling capital of the world after scoring victory in the finals of a British beauty pageant.

And proud mum Jayne Stockton is confident her daughter can add to her early successes and make it big in the world of modelling.

She said: “We are ever so proud of her. She has done fantastically well and she wants to make a career of it and we are all right behind her.”

Former Hall Cross School pupil Daisy saw off the challenge of scores of other competitors from across the country at the finals of the Fitness Model Britain competition in London to secure her spot at the worldwide finals in Las Vegas later this year.

However, Armthorpe-based Daisy now faces a race against time to secure the funding to fly out for the contest which will take place in November.

Jayne said: “As a parent, you want the best for your child so we are doing everything we can to get her out there.

“It’s a lot of money – more than £1,000 – if anyone wants to help with sponsorship would be greatly appreciated.”

For her success at the capital’s Shaw Theatre she combined bikini modelling, physique and muscle tone – and as the youngest competitior there, she was amazed when she walked off with first place and the winners’ trophy.

Jayne said: “It isn’t about bodybuilding or anything like that, its about being toned and having good muscle definition – but the judges are also looking for the whole package, personality, looks, face, hair and clothes.”

“Daisy has always been into dance and keeping fit and she has decided that modelling is a career she wants to pursue,” she added.

“It is a difficult world to break into but by going to Las Vegas it will help open doors for her.

“We know that people from all over the world will be watching what happens and she will be able to make some contacts over there.”
