Park Lodge Shooting School in East Yorkshire has announced that this year’s Yorkshire Schools Clay Shooting Challenge will take place on Friday September 18.

The challenge is open to both individuals and teams of novice and semi experienced shooters from schools around the region, who will compete for a range of prizes and a trophy.

The competition, which is being sponsored by shotgun cartridge manufacturer Lyalvale Express, will be for pupils from Year 9 upwards. The teams will comprise a maximum of five girls and boys, who will shoot a range of different sporting layouts around Park Lodge’s ground.

At the inaugural event in 2014, 18 entries from schools around the region competed for the trophy, which was won by Chris Holt from Queen Elizabeth Grammar School, Wakefield. Chris, who was named ‘high gun’ with a score of 48 out of 50, was presented with the Winner’s prize of a cartridge bag and 250 cartridges from event sponsor Lyalvale Express.

Tom Bayston, proprietor, Park Lodge Shooting School said: “Last year’s event was very well supported and all the entrants had a very enjoyable day. There are some very popular schools competitions in other parts of the country and now Yorkshire can join that list! We already have a range of schools and colleges that bring students here, plus many individual juniors who visit us, so we are looking forward to another successful event this year and meeting the next generation of shooting champions.”

Marcus Iddon, UK Sales Manager, Lyalvale Express, commented: “We are delighted to be sponsoring this event once again and hope lots of budding shooters will take part. It is great to see Park Lodge making the future happen, by getting youngsters involved in shooting. Who knows, one of the young shots at this event could be Olympic, World or European Champion in ten or twelve years’ time! With Tom and Sharon Bayston’s foresight and investment in the future, a whole new era for shooting in Great Britain is evolving.”

The Yorkshire Schools Clay Shooting Challenge is now open for entries by contacting Jo at Park Lodge reception on info@parklodgeshootingschool.co.uk or telephone: 01405 764500.

The fee to enter is £25 per person.

Entrants can be individual or a team, with a maximum of 5 in a team.
