COMIC legend Billy Connolly was all smiles after a double date in Doncaster.

The Scots superstar stand-up was in town for two sell-out shows at The Dome on Tuesday and Wednesday night and stopped over at Bawtry’s Crown Hotel during his visit to our region.

The 69-year-old comedian is currently on a huge UK tour and happily posed for photographs and signed autographs for fellow guests and joins a long list of big name celebrities who have stayed at the Crown.

Meetings and events manager Tori Gunputrao said: “He has been a lovely guest - it has been a pleasure to have Billy staying with us while he has been in Doncaster.

“It is always nice to have a celebrity with us. But the staff are dedicated to looking after all our guests and making sure that everyone who comes here has a pleasant stay.”

The star’s visit comes after fellow countryman and pint-size comic Ronnie Corbett dropped in at the Mount Pleasant Hotel last week. In recent years, The Crown has welcomed a galaxy of stars through its doors including Little Britain favourites David Walliams and Matt Lucas, boy-band heart-throbs Boyzone, The Only Way Is Essex star Amy Childs and singers Peter Andre and Doncaster’s very own One Direction star Louis Tomlinson.
