A hash of things
Just a wee personal bleat this week – about corned beef cans. Why are these the only metal food containers that still have those evil keys, welded to the sides, and those downright dangerously razor-sharp edges as you peel back the lid?
How many times have you given yourself a nasty cut as you try to get the darned thing open? Why can't corned beef come in round tins, not square ones with rounded edges, and why can't it come with ring-pull tabs, as most other tinned foodstuffs do?
Or is it, perhaps, that the suppliers of corned beef (which I love with some crusty bread and a large chilli-hot pickle) have significant shareholdings in the firms that make sticking plasters? Now that, come to think about it, would make sense.
