Star gazers from Mexborough and Swinton Astronomical Society are giving the public the chance to see stars at Wentworth Castle.

The society will be hosting demonstrations, talks and advice on this fascinating subject and there will also be chance have a closer look at the night sky through powerful telescopes.

Director at Wentworth Castle Gardens, Claire Herring, said: “When you live in large towns and cities, there’s a huge amount of light pollution so you never see the glorious, full effect of the twinkling night sky.

“Thanks to Wentworth Castle’s location, it’s an ideal place to stargaze. Plus the experts from the Astronomical Society will be on hand to point people in the right direction to find the best view of the galaxy.”

The star-gazing evening is on Saturday, November 29 from 6pm to 8pm. Please note, if cloudy there will be changes to the advertised programme but talks and demonstrations will still take place.

Tickets are £4.50 per person, family ticket £15, including tea/coffee and biscuits. To book call 01226 776040 or log on to the Wentworth Castle Gardens website.
