A line dancing class at Montgomery Hall in Wath is still going strong eight years after a local dance teacher took over regular beginners classes.
The dance instructor from the Dearne Valley Dance Academy, Jean Woodbridge, runs the classes each Tuesday at the hall in Church Street, from 10am to 11am, and around 22 attend each time.
She said it enabled people to not only improve fitness and flexibility, but also to learn new routines without the pressure of having to master complicated moves.
She added: “This is always popular and strictly for beginners. I am a trained dance teacher and at the Dearne Valley Dance Academy I teach all kinds of things including ballet and tap. However, these classes are intended for those who are only just beginning line dancing and want to improve their flexibility.”
