Will Sheffield pay the bill too?

A FEW years ago Peel Holdings which owns and runs the airport at Finningley, chose to ignore local public opinion regarding the airport's name.
Showing such disdain for Doncaster's image, it included Sheffield in the title to give it some gravitas. Are we therefore to assume that the troubled airport's management will now go cap in hand to Sheffield rate payers to bail them out as well?
Doncaster's residents including their council might have been a little more sympathetic to Peel's hardship appeal if they had shown a little more respect and regard for the local population's opinion in the first place. I would dearly like to see "Doncaster International Airport" succeed. Incidentally, the airline Flybe, which advertises almost daily its airport destinations in the national press, has changed Finningley Airport's name from Doncaster Sheffield to simply Doncaster.
Is anyone really surprised?
