Some people say that Mayor Winter has been seen leading a white elephant round the soon to be 'Park and Ride' at Parrots Corner, Rossington.
Understandably because who is going to park their car there and bus into town? Not people from Rossington who can catch the same bus in Rossington without having to disembark at Parrots Corner.

Is it the brainchild of someone who created the bus lane thus limiting Doncaster bound traffic to one lane, or is it the same person who placed a bus stop on Stripe Road opposite bollards so when a bus pulls up all the following traffic does likewise.

I am convinced that someone in the highways planning department sends its trainees to Rossington to see what mayhem can be created.

The reasons bollards are put next to the bus stops (its not just rossington) are simple, 1) it acts as a traffic calming measure on a 30mph road and 2)it allows busses to enter the traffic again without having to sit and wait for a motorist who understands the highway code to allow them to pull out. I have noticed most drivers simply pass the island on the wrong side despite this being illegal but the police are not interested. it is unfortunate but we all have to suffer due to the sub standard driving of many drivers.

After seeing the 'success' of the Keepmoat park and ride service from the Racecourse yesterday, I doubt anyone would use it! The same could be said for Bawtry, where the bus goes straight past the park and ride site.

I don't understand the logic of park and ride - Doncaster isn't big enough to support it in my opinion! There is plenty of parking around, and a bus service to most places. I just don't get why people would do half the trip in a car, when they could do the full trip in either a car or a bus!

Wait and see I suppose.
It'll got he same way as the P&R located at Vue cinema, i.e. nobody will use it.
Still awaiting the fare tarrif. Bet it will be extortionate.
This is social engineering pure and simple.
1) reduce parking spaces in town.
2) raise price of parking spaces available from Council
3) limit to 2 hours max permissible stay in Council spaces
4) raise bus prices without improving services.
5) repeatedly fail to invest in and improve the Markets area
Couple this to the hike in car tax duty and you can see where it is going, an underhanded attempt to make the transport interchange and frenchgate the be all and end all of Donny town center. Mr Winter won't be happy until everyone decides to go to Meadowhall instead.

What a waste of public money this park and ride is, who in their right mind would park a car on the outskirts of the Town, in particular area's where I suspect is vunerable to crime. The times when I have passed, at the most there have been in the region of 6 to 10 cars and I suspect these may belong to pensioners, who have free public transport, who are trying it out.
Like Donny lad has said this Authority will not be happy, until it drives everyone to Meadowhall. Where people feel safe to park their vehicles and shop knowing that wont be abused by yobish behaviour. Doncaster is fast becoming a ghost town, full of alcholics, scumbags and beggars, the sooner we get rid of the people who are running it the better and lets have free parking for shoppers, who will come back to the town if this is introduced.

Visiting Manchester i was suprised to find out that it's only 70p or £1 to travel about 3 miles out of town. I was asking myself why is it so darned cheap and looking at the traffic on the roads it seemed to be because there are different companies on the same route (including First, Stagecoach, Finglands, etc) all fighting for you to get on their buses. Comparing this to Doncaster it costs me £2 to get the same distance because nearly all the buses are run by First. There is no competition on no routes, which means they are allowed to charge whatever they feel like.

I'm sick along with all the people of Doncaster of paying higher bus fares. Travel South Yorkshire will never get people out of their cars when all the buses are run by one greedy company who are charging whatever they feel like. I say it's about time they introduced some competition to give them a kick up the backside because it's amazing what a bit of competition can do.

The reason why we pay so much in Doncaster, we have to pay for all the new buses in Sheffield. It is time we went back to Doncaster Corporation Transport, at least we will have a better deal and get rid of the millstone from round our necks called the super tram, which we are still paying for !!!!

In reply to Donny Chris's comments. I think putting bollards opposite bus stops is plain crazy to say the least. It adds to pollution in particular the one opposite Sandring School, outside the Health Centre on Armthorpe Road !!The traffic backs up in all directions, with parents dropping children off at both schools, the school crossing and of course the bus stop. Whoever thought of this crazy hair brained scheme should be sacked, or put in the stocks !!! let us have a little fun at the morons who are causing this chaos. If it is such a good idea, why not put bollards adjacent to every bus stop,it would be like trying to get through Armthorpe in a morning!!!.
The next Mayor of Donny, should look at what these amatures are doing to our Town and start putting bus bays back, as there is enough room to do this and sort out the rest of the mess that these clowns have done.

Donny Bri I will take a wild guess you are a car driver not a bus user from your comments. I doubt very much that cars "backed up in all directions" causes much more pollution, if any, than cars accelerating hard to pass a parked bus or tailgating the car infront to prevent a bus pulling out, and it would certainly cause less pollution if the backed up cars were parked in a drive and the occupants used the bus. The bollards do slow traffic down, is that really a bad thing where as you've pointed out parents are dropping their kids off at two schools? motorists cant be trusted to adjust their speed for situations that may lay ahead, they are too blinkered by getting from a-b in as little time as possible and their car is equipt with airbags and impact bars and abs and so on, so they'll be fine. As for lay by bus stops, thats all well and good on quiet roads or where the highway code is followed and busses are given priority (223), but on this planet... Why should I, or anyone else on a bus have to sit and wait while single motorists barge past the bus because that one person belives their journey is more important than the upto 80 people on a bus? It is unfortunate that motorists accross the country have to be FORCED to comply with rules, its not just a Doncaster thing, but the roads are, lets face it pretty much lawless and many motorists belive they have the right to break laws and rules when it suits them. As a motorist myself I appricate that bus lanes, bollards, bus gates and the like do inconvenience drivers, however as a bus user I can also see that these things speed my journey up, and make it far more consistant, and it doesnt take a genius to work out that 1 vehicle with 80 people on takes up less room, and gives off less pollution than 80 vehicles with one person.

People do not want to use public transport, it is expensive, dirty and full of mindless morons, with all the cursing and everything else that goes along with it. I bet less than 5% of the people who work for Doncaster Council use public transport. They have a purge every now and then, trying to get staff to use public transport and yet the car parks and adjacent streets are full of cars. For the same reason these people will not use public transport, as I pointed out earlier.
I must say you dont sound like a car driver yourself, with the bitterness you have towards the rest of us, watching us pass you on the bus in our cars. I would point out I do use public transport from time to time and I cycle as well, but I do object to some one telling me I must use busses, after all I pay road tax and If it wasnt for us, you would not be able to install these stupid road calming measures.
Remember when there is a change of Mayor, and He or She will get to grip with all these mess ups,and perhaps get this Town moving again.

Whilst I am on the subject of roads, I have just been to the dump it site on Armthorpe Road. Could some one tell me why, after all the work was done on this section of road, why did they not put a right turn into the site ? There was enough room to do this at the time. Instead they put a kerb, so no one can undertake, hence traffic backs up to Leger Way, including buses.
I am suprised there has not been a major accident at this point.
But what do we expect from these morons, putting this type of curb, in an area notorious for flooding, adjacent to a Dump it site, where there is a large amout of silt and debri, also putting the same in the site. I despare at these clowns.
