I WOULD like to ask, why you no longer publish a list of planning applications.
needs editor's comment
I like many others used to depend on the Free Press to find out what planning applications have been lodged, now we only find out when it is far too late to do anything about them, and we are dismayed to find buildings eith
er demolished, altered or about to be built which we knew nothing about.
The only way you seem to find out about any is to go around looking at lamposts everywhere.
I am sure there are others in Doncaster who are dismayed to find changes to our town which we believe are ruining the town.
There are many lovely buildings being ruined by changes to their appearance which is not in keeping with the style of the buildings and far too many gaudy shop signs. Doncaster could be a lovely town which would attract many visitors, (not for the amount of public houses and nightclubs) but for the attractiveness of the town, which in my mind and of others I have spoken to, is being ruined by trying to be ultra modern.
Doncaster is an ancient town and should be proud of it.
Lets have new buildings in keeping with this image and not like the eyesore of the Frenchgate Centre.
Name and address supplied Editor's Note: Space restrictions mean that we no longer print the full list of planning applications. Instead, we pick out interesting - or controversial - applications and these are reported on both within our Property Guide and on the news pages of the Free Press. Doncaster Council makes available the full lists of applications submitted every week on its website at www.doncaster.gov.uk. Details of planning applications are also available in local libraries.
