IT does not take a genius to know how important our Library service is to all members of our community.
Here we have another vital service that Mayor Martin Winter in his wisdom or rather lack of it has made a victim of his cut backs.

It also comes as no surprise that this is supported by managing director Paul Hart who believes this is what the co
mmunities want.

According to Mr Hart the library budget is not being cut by £500,000 so are we to presume that Unison's estimate of £662,000 is more like it?

Why should services be hit by cut backs to make up the £6.3 million over spend, which can only be blamed on bad management.

Librarians are irreplaceable, this is specialised work and to lose any, would be detrimental to an excellent service.

Year on year we've seen some area of the council re-organised, this does nothing for the moral of stall who have to re-apply for their own job often resulting in being down graded which means less money or being replaced by a person with less experience.

To say this is what the public want is nonsense Mr Hart, they don't make the decisions as you well know.

To start at the top with cut backs would be an excellent idea and one I'm sure the public would agree with.
