Lack of support for New Labour

NO one should have been surprised at the scale of the down turn of support for New Labour at the local elections, as the party has long lost any identity with the expectations promised before 1997.
For MPs to now participate in the blame game, that Gordon Brown could be responsible for the New Labour crisis, along with Blain before him exposes the shallow politics of New Labour, when loyalty to a leader supersedes commitment to principles.

It is not Gordon Brown, or an elected mayor being the sole cause of declining support for New Labour, but the membership of the party.
