I CALLED into the council reception by the Mansion House and asked if they had a list of locations of public toilets in Doncaster.

Just my luck, I was told: 'I'm only sitting in for the regular person so I can't help'.

She then advised me to contact the customer services team at the council.

This I did and put the complaint of why there are no public toilets at the Wa
terdale part of town. As yet no one has been in touch, plenty of promises but no action.

I believe there are only three public loos in town; Market Place, Transport Interchange and Frenchgate Centre. Correct me if I'm wrong.

To the people who made the momentous decision to deny the residents of Doncaster and visitors these necessary facilities, remember one day you will be old and may be disabled like me and, the way things are going, you may need to have a receptacle strapped to your body on your trips to town.

If the reason they have closed is a financial one, maybe one suggestion would be to give the chief execs the same percentage pay rise as the general labour force and, with the money saved, employ staff to man the ones that have been closed down, especially the ones where money was spent renovating and closed soon after.

Walter Thomas, Warmsworth

Mr Thomas,
Some time ago when I worked for the Authority, memebers of the public could ask to use the fascilities in the Council offices. It may have changed now, but give it a try.
