IT was great to see people of all ages excited about Doncaster Rovers winning promotion to the Championship and the European Championship football tournament even if no British side was in it.
It's also good to know that people and sponsors of local youth sporting clubs are endeavouring to keep their clubs going despite economic pressures we are all under.

I would like to remind Doncaster's Labour controlled council of the statement made by Gordon Brown that all school fields should be made available to keep youngsters off the streets. However, he forgot to mention the cost of £22.50 incurred by sporting clubs when using school pitches/fields despite maintenance being already paid for by tax payers, I think the least the council should do to take pressure off local clubs is to drop this charge in the coming football, rugby and other sporting seasons.

The success of local clubs in and around Doncaster shows the wealth of talent we have and we need to ensure they get all the encouragement and assistance we can give them so I ask all councillors to push for and support the dropping of any charges for the use of school playing fields by junior/youth sporting clubs.
