Hatfield are in the process of twinning with the town of Merksplas in Belgium.
The important link being with Cpl Harper VC, who lost his life in Merksplas in the last war.
The Mayor of Merksplas has visited Hatfield with citizens from his own town and Hatfield Power Fuel Band have already been and played in the Belgium town.
Cpl Harper VC was a local boy who attended Hatfield Woodhouse School.
He is still a local hero and held in high regard in the town of Merksplas as indeed he is remembered here.
