GET set for a bumper weekend of things to do and places to go as two of the highlights of the summer calendar combine for a feast of fun for all.
For this Sunday sees Father's Day and the Longest Day of the year taking place - so that means the height of summer is here which means there's no excuse for not spending time with your dad this weekend.
There's plenty to pack in during the daylight hours to show your dad you care and if he's a fan of antiques your best bet is to head for Doncaster Racecourse this weekend when one of TV's most flamboyant stars will be in town.
For collectables expert David Dickinson is set to bring Town Moor to life on Saturday when the real life Lovejoy arrives in town to film the latest episode of his hit ITV show Dickinson's Real Deal.
The County Enclosure will be the place to be if you have any antiques, collectables, heirlooms or curios stashed away at home that you feel might just be valuable. Take your treasured items along and the dealers will be ready and waiting to pay cash for any 'Bobby Dazzlers' among them. You can haggle for the best price OR if you think your heirloom is worth more then of course you can take a gamble at auction. Opening time is from 9am to 5pm and entrance is free.
This weekend is also Heritage Weekend when South Yorkshire will be unveiling some of its hidden architectural gems.
There are 29 sites opening over the weekend, many with additional activities and events such as guided tours, tower visits, exhibitions and strawberry teas.
Among the places taking part are dozens of local village churches. For full information about the sites, opening times and the events and activities, contact Heritage Inspired at info@heritageinspired.org.uk or on 0845 6529634.
If you are after something a bit more action-packed for your dad, one half of Doncaster-based Britain's Got Talent stars Strike will be hitting town this weekend.
Since bursting onto the scene through last year's show, Liam Richards and Danny Ball, have literally travelled the world with their unique style of martial arts performance.
Danny, born and bred in Doncaster, will be coming back to teach at Premier Martial Arts from noon and guests are being invited along to the Wood Street school to meet him and see him show off his amazing talent.
Call 01302 322229 or visit www.pmadoncaster.com for more information.
Why not give dad a day out that he really deserves this Father's Day and take him along to Magna Science Adventure Centre? To celebrate, Magna is giving free entry all day to dads visiting on Sunday which means a saving of £9.95.
Magna is a great day out for all the family with four gadget-packed pavilions Air, Fire, Water and Earth and two breathtaking multimedia displays as well as two fantastic outdoor play areas, Sci-Tek and Aqua-Tek.
If your dad is "down with the kids," he should make tracks for The Priory this Saturday when Radio 1 DJ Judge Jules will be in town for a DJ set at the Lazarus Court club. Tickets are available from the venue.
Step back in time at Conisbrough Castle when bold knights do battle with a Knight Academy which will see battle re-enactments and workshops taking a closer look at medieval history. The castle will be open from 10am to 5pm on both days. For further details about the Knight Academy and other events at Conisbrough contact 01709 863329.
And if your dad is a motors enthusiast, make tracks for Brodsworth Hall on Sunday which will be playing host to an array of classic cars throughout the day.
There will be all manner of gleaming motors to admire and enjoy and the hall and gardens will also be open making it ideal for a fun family day
out. Contact 01302 722598 for full details.
