GET set for a soulful evening of sexy and sassy sounds this Saturday as some of the UK's biggest R&B stars descend on Doncaster Racecourse.
For after an evening of racing, racegoers will be treated to live performances from chart-topping superstars Lemar, Alesha Dixon and Jamelia.

And in a chat with the Free Press, Lemar admitted he can't wait to touch down in Doncaster for an evening of great sounds.

He said: "The night will be full of energy and full of life - and we're really gonna enjoy it."

Lemar has experienced huge success since graduating from the BBC's Fame Academy in 2002. After previously supporting world-renowned musical acts such as Destiny's Child and Usher, Lemar has become a star in his own right. With four successful albums, a number of sell-out tours and two Brit awards for 'Best Urban Act' to his name, Lemar has truly established himself as one of Britain's top R'n'B artists.

Having already performed at racecourses up and down the country, Lemar
enthuses that the combination of racing and live performance is a great experience for all involved.

"The day as a whole is very fulfilling, especially for the audience," he said. "They can watch the races, place a bet, hopefully make some money, then see a live show. It should be a class night."

Clearly excited about the event, Lemar said: "I'm feeling very good, I'm raring to go and looking forward to being back on stage with a live band. I genuinely can't wait."

And it also seems not only the crowd will be having a flutter on the day, "I might have a bet, take a look at the books and see what looks good," Lemar told us.

The singer has spent the past year touring the nation, entertaining fans with his top ten hits, Dance (With U), 50/50, If There's Any Justice, Time To Grow and tracks from his most recent album, The Reason. The star claims that it's been his favourite tour to date and that it's been extremely well received by audiences.

Racegoers can expect more of the same on Saturday night. "I'll be bringing the same energy as on the tour, it'll be a shorter set but I think that means it will make more impact, it'll be even more powerful."

Of course Lemar is not the only act appearing on the night. Yet Lemar feels he is in good company with fellow R&B starlets, Alesha Dixon and Jamelia, responsible for hits such as The Boy Does Nothing and Superstar respectively. He said: "It's a great line-up, they're both amazing performers. I've met Jamelia before, we performed together at the Brit Awards but I've never really done anything with Alesha so it'll be nice to see her do her thing."

The R&B inspired evening is a first for Doncaster Racecourse and is the second of three live music events this summer which kicked off with an 80s show earlier this month and an appearance from rock legends Status Quo next month.

And Lemar is more than happy to get his live music message across: "It's all about just getting it out there. The night will be a great celebration of R&B and soul music in general," he said.

* Tickets are priced at £25 and are on sale at the racecourse on 01302
