ON your marks, get set - go!

The streets of Bentley are set to come alive with the sound of pounding feet this weekend as the village plays host to an athletics extravaganza on Saturday.
For the North Doncaster Development Trust is staging the annual North Doncaster Memorial Dawdle and Dash which will see runners of all ages and abilities taking to the roads for a feast of family fun and fitness.

The focus of the day's activities will be Bentley Park with three events aimed at athletes of all shapes and sizes.

The day kicks off at 10am with the first race - The Bentley Park 1.5km fun run - getting under way at 10.30am.

That will be followed by the Bentley Beast 10K Run - a more challenging course for more experienced runners which starts at 11am and includes some gruelling hills around the old Bentley Colliery site.

And the day's events will be rounded off with the North Doncaster Memorial 10,000 Steps Walk which will set off from the park at 1pm.

Entrance fees are £1 for the 1.5km fun run and walk and £4 for the 10K run.

Alan Bell, chief executive of the NDDT, said: "It is a great opportunity fo have fun, meet new people and support your local community.

"We encourage all runners to compete in the 1.5 km fun run but for the more daring runner, the Bentley Beast will take runners over an interesting and demanding hilly course touching the Trans Pennine Trail and the Bentley Community Woodland."

The park will also have stalls and other attractions as well as refreshments for runners.

North Doncaster Development Trust would like to hear from anyone who is interested in helping out on the day. Goody bags, medals and certificates will be awarded to all finishers and spectators are welcome to cheer the competitors on.

Places can be booked on 01302 874587 or at www.northdoncaster.org.uk
