THIS weekend Doncaster is graced with the visiting presence of real DJ talent of global acclaim.
There's always that slightly irksome twinge of anxiety when big names in any cultural field come to Doncaster – is coming to the small-town a symbolic measurement of their tragic decline or is it a bold career move to influence those of us outside th
e parameters of city limits? Either way I remember when N-Trance were in the charts...and it was a long time ago...

If you're up for a 'good time rock and roll band' as part of your sing-along classics medley that is practically any night in Walkabout, go see The Magic Bullitz. Walkabout's Friday night live offerings are always much of the same but tried and tested seems to be the bar's maxim – seeing as it's perennially the town's most packed-out bar, you can't really knock it. For an electro-disco alternative, DJs Housepervertz play Boiler Rooms, the Underground Club offers its usual indie line up and Trilogy's die hard £12 All Inclusive is still going strong.

On Saturday the Priory's monthly Vibe presents Swedish artist Stonebridge: he's got a summer booked up in Ibiza's A-list clubs and is currently touring globally bringing his unique brand of pop infused house to a larger forum. Trilogy hosts Clubland with a DJ set by N-Trance (one wonders whether they'll play their super-hit 'Set You Free' as many times as they've released it) and impressive drinks offers all night and Doncaster's signature drum and bass event Soundwarz takes place at Boiler Rooms.
