Jazz
MULTI-reed maestro Matt Palmer returns to the Rockingham Arms tomorrow with his New Orleans Quartet. Featuring sensational teenage altoist Amy Roberts, plus dazzling piano man Tom Kincade and the pulsating hard-driving double bass of Jim Swinnerton,
a full house is expected. Stomp-off is at 8.30pm and admission is £5 at the door. Meanwhile, this Saturday's lunchtime session at the Fitzwilliam Arms by Terry Allonby's Trio will also see the welcome return of special guest vocalist Karen Lake. Admission is free and the session runs from noon to 3pm.

Events


MAKE a date in your diary for a feast of summer fun. Villagers in Owston Ferry are gearing up for a summer fair on July 6 which will include a wide variety of events between 11am and 4pm. Among the attractions on offer are a craft fair in the Coronation Hall, a Field Day which will include displays by various local groups, games and information stalls, bouncy castle, tarot card reader, hot food, tuck shop, ice cream, donkey rides and a car boot sale.

Clubs

THE State Club at Gainsborough has lined up a feast of bank holiday entertainment for this weekend. Retford based indie rock band Gaucho kick things off tonight (tickets £4) and will be followed by a Glam Disco tomorrow with resident DJ Matt Parker. Then on Saturday, top clubland star Lisa Lashes will be in town for a night of hard dance.

Tickets are £8 in advance or £10 on the door with late opening until 3am. The weekend will be rounded off on Sunday with Matt Parker playing a selection of old skool anthems and Ibiza classics.

Arts

DO you think you could be the next Dakota Fanning? Fancy being a top model, TV or movie star, singer, dancer, actor, TV presenter or stand up comedian? Then local talent agency boss Samantha Smith wants to hear from you! The StarStruck Agency is currently scouting Doncaster and Lincolnshire in order to find the best talent on offer from the ages of 4 to 84, in order to represent them at the World Wide Acclaimed American Model and Talent Convention (AMTC), which will be taking place at Euro Disney Paris in November of this year. Racing

DONCASTER Racecourse has lined up a feast of specially themed summer race days. The programme kicks off with a Moulin Rouge event on May 3 when everything from fire-eaters and drag queens will be strutting their stuff and on May 17 its Irish Night at Town Moor with Irish music and Guinness on tap. There's a Mardi Gras theme on May 31 with dancers and bands and then it's back to the 50s on June 6 with live entertainment from tributes to Frank Sinatra, Marilyn Monroe and Laurel and Hardy. And on May 24, Jongleurs Comedy will be bringing top comic Roger Monkhouse to town for an evening of comedy. Tickets are £25 each for the comedy night.
