THE festive season has brought tidings of joy for a Conisbrough mum and her son after they won a hamper full of goodies worth £1,500.
Michelle Snowden, 27, was named as the Doncaster winner in the welfare-to-work agency Reed in Partnership's national "Win Xmas" competition.

Michelle and three-year-old son Liam are now set for a dream Christmas after they were presented with their prize of a bumper festive hamper.

It contains a Nintendo Wii with games, an iPod nano, a digital camera, a portable TV, Argos and HMV vouchers, a Nintendo DS, a flat screen TV, toys, a Clarins gift set, food , a Christmas tree, a turkey and a selection of cards, decorations and wrapping paper.

Delighted Michelle said: "I am still in shock, it is an amazing prize and I can't believe that I won. It will make it a dream Christmas for Liam - he has already been playing with some of his new toys."

She won after being entered into a prize draw open for people who registered with Reed in Partnership's single parent programme to find a job between September 1 and November 30.

Michelle started work in October as a sales rep for a training firm based at Manvers.

She added: "Winning this competition is the best Christmas present I could ask for - not only have I found a job and started working again, but I've also won this incredible prize.

"I had been out of work for three years with a young son but wanted to get a job - thanks to Reed in Partnership's help I now have a job and winning this prize is fantastic. '

Kaye Rideout, senior operations manager for Reed in Partnership in Doncaster, said: "This competition has been a great way of encouraging lone parents to come to us for help and support in finding a job."
