SPORTY youngsters have been awarded for their endeavours at the first annual sports presentation evening for Balby Carr School.
The event, which was held at Castle Park, was attended by 150 students to mark their contributions to a variety of sports including rowing, trampolining, dance, badminton and athletics.

Aaron Gill, 18, was awarded the Luke Atkinson award, a prize named after an ex-pupil to celebrate outstanding contribution to sport, the school and the community.

Students were also given a motivational speech by gold medal winning gymnast Craig Heap.

Sarah-Jane Tredinnick, PE teacher and key-stage three coordinator at the specialist sports and science school said: "The evening was fantastic, every one was enjoying themselves and it all went to plan. There was a fantastic disco at the end."

Winners from each age group were: Suko Mahlangu, Daniel Bell, Casey Daniels, Jake Armitage, Heather Sowden, Hannan Noel, Aimee Bee, Karl Peebles, Rebecca Peck, Tom Thorpe, Leanne Cantrell and Niall Horstead.
