MORE than 200 teenagers have been warned by police as part of a anti-social behaviour crackdown in Thorne town centre.
Operation Advantage, which swung into action every Friday and Saturday evening during April, saw 15 dispersal notices issued, one fixed penalty notice dished out for a public order offence, 20 teenagers returned home to their parents, while 13 youngsters attended Thorne Police station to sign Acceptable Behaviour Contracts.

In total, 214 teenagers were spoken to by police, moved out of the area and made aware of Section 30 dispersal orders which hand police the power to split up troublesome groups.

PC Clair Garland, of the Thorne Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: "This operation has had a significant impact on the number of young people in Thorne town centre. The number of antisocial behaviour incidents has decreased during this operation and the quality of life for local residents has greatly improved."
