A MAN arrested on suspicion of the murder of a woman in Mexborough has been released without charge.
A 62-year-old man was arrested after the body of 55-year-old Marie Ann Booth was found at the foot of a high wall in the rear yard of a shop in High Street, Mexborough on Thursday night.

The man who was arrested and questioned on suspicion of murder was released yesterday afternoon.

Police now say they are "keeping an open mind" about the death although it is being treated as suspicious.

A post mortem examination revealed that Ms Booth, who was the Landlady of the Bull's Head and lived on High Street, died of head injuries.

The ambulance service was called shortly before 11pm and paramedics pronounced the woman dead at the scene.

The Bull's Head pub and Paula's Sandwich Bar were cordoned off by police throughout Friday while forensic examinations took place.

Both businesses reopened on Monday, and floral tributes were left outside the Bull's Head over the weekend.

Part of High Street was closed to vehicles from its junction with Bank Street and Garden Street was also closed on Friday.
