AN EXTENSION to a popular Park and Ride facility will open on Monday.
The number of car parking spaces at Adwick Park and Ride will more than double following the completion of work by the South Yorkshire Passenger Transport Executive (SYPTE).

An additional 112 spaces will open to the public, taking the total numbe
r of parking spaces to 196, while 12 more spaces will be available for people with disabilities.

SYPTE director general David Brown said: "We are always looking at ways to improve our Park and Ride sites for our customers and I am delighted that we are able to extend this popular facility.

"Park and Ride sites are a convenient and easy way to travel and I hope by extending Adwick more people will take the opportunity to travel hassle free on the train into Doncaster town centre and other places across Yorkshire.

"Our aim is to encourage more people out of their cars and onto public transport and it is by providing high quality facilities such as Adwick that we can achieve this."

Adwick rail station offers half-hourly train services to Doncaster and is 40 minutes away from Leeds, 30 minutes from Rotherham, 50 minutes from Sheffield and 20 minutes from Wakefield.

The station offers a mini-interchange, toilet and baby change facilities, an accessible lift and customer service information about local bus, tram and train transport as well as TravelMaster ticket schemes, while the car park is monitored 24-hours a day by CCTV cameras.
