UP, up and away - charity
fundraiser Jane Stapleton is taking
to the skies again on a flight
that will mark the 40th anniversary
of an operation that changed
her life.
Jane's hot air balloon ride coincides with the anniversary of the
operation that Jane had as a 17-year-old to remove a brain tumour.

The operation saved the teenager's life but left her partially sighted
and also partially deaf.

Jane, now 57, will undertake her flight from The Dome later this
month to raise cash to start up a local group of DeafBlind UK
which offers specialist support services to deaf blind people.

Jane, of Humber Close, Skellow, said: "All deaf blind people are not
as fortunate as me. I mean, I have my family and I can see a little bit
and with the help of hearing aids I can hear.

"This is much needed for them so that they can have people to go in
and actually sit with them."

Last year Jane took to the skies to raise over £1,000 to help cover
the costs of publishing her inspirational autobiography My Life in
Their Hands as a talking book for the blind.

To sponsor Jane's latest balloon trip on October 24 at The Dome, telephone (01320) 723905 or send a donation to Jane Stapleton, Care
of Humber Close Community Centre, Skellow, Doncaster, DN6 8JP.
