A DONCASTER family is fighting fit after shedding more than seven stones with the help of a slimming club.
When mother Nina Chamberlain, 37, of Edenthorpe joined Slimming World she asked husband Richard, 38, and 14-year-old son Evan Totis to join in her healthy eating campaign.

Hungerhill School pupil, Evan has dropped just over two stones and beat the bullies thanks to joining in with his mum's slimming scheme.

He said: "I wanted to try and lose weight because I was getting picked on at school. Whenever I tried to do something in PE they would just laugh at me - I wanted to show them I could do it."

Evan has now gone from a 40 inch waist to a much trimmer 34.

"A lot of people at school have noticed how much weight I've lost," he said.

"I feel a lot better and now when I walk into a room I feel like people don't hate me and people notice me more now.

"I would encourage more people my age to do something like this. It might seem scary and tough at first but it's actually quite fun."

Nina, who weighed 22 stones 1lb was referred to Slimming World by her doctor.

After losing just over three stones in 18 weeks she has been crowned the group's woman of the year.

She said: "I'm a very chatty person but I was literally lost for words when I won. Everyone at the club has supported me so much and has spurred me on and I couldn't have done it without them.

"This is something I will treasure forever but it's not just for me it's for everyone in the class who has tried so hard."

"I'm so proud of the fact that we have done this as a family, Richard has lost about two stones and to see Evan go from a 40 inch waist to 34 is incredible.

"It's quite funny now when Evan sees me going to eat something he'll say - do you realise how many sins are in that."

Reacting to the news that Doncaster was the third fattest place in England according to a recent survey Nina said: "I was absolutely horrified to hear it and just thought I don't want to be another statistic. It made me feel very sad there is so much help out there people need to take advantage of that. "
