A LOCAL church has held a fashion show with a conscience to promote fair trade in Doncaster.
St James’ Church in St Sepulchre Gate held a Fair Trade Fashion Show at St James Community Hall on July 11 to promote ethical shopping.
As well as stalls from several fair trade suppliers and fair trade cheese and wine, the church also discussed an ethical dilemma questioning the parallels between modern-day sweatshops and 18th century slavery.
Rev Alan Murray said: “We were very pleased. It was well attended and the idea of fair trade was high on the agenda. We hope to do something similar in the future.”
