THE father of a baby who was starved and injured before her spine was fatally snapped in two, has been found guilty of her murder.
James William Frederick Howson, 25, of Nelson Road in Edlington came up with "absurd lies" to hide that he had inflicted the appalling injuries which resulted in the death of his 16-month-old daughter Amy, a jury at Leeds Crown Court was told.
Amy was pronounced dead in the morning of December 23 after suffering a broken spine but she was also starved, bruised, covered in pressure sores and had injuries to all four of her limbs which had been sustained in the four to eight weeks leading up to her "exceedingly painful death", prosecutors said.
A jury at Leeds Crown Court found Howson guilty of murder and child cruelty.
He will be sentenced on Friday alongside Amy's mother, Tina Hunt, 26, of the same address, who has pleaded guilty to charges of allowing the death of a child and child cruelty.
