Kids in Doncaster could be swimming like fish this summer as the Dome re-launches its lessons programme.
Learning in ability groups octopuses, goldfish, angelfish and sharks, classes are designed for children of primary school age.

The Dome's head of leisure, Jon Whiteley, said: "Teaching children to swim is a vitally important part of their educatio
n process.

"We are extremely proud of the swimming lessons we run and have revamped the programme to ensure that there are even more opportunities for youngsters to take to the water and learn the important skill of swimming."

The leisure centre is running the Swimming Teachers Association (STA) Award Scheme which has taught millions of children and young people to swim over many years.

Said Jon: "On completion of level 4 (Sharks) pupils will be able to swim 100 meters, perform all four strokes, perform a dive from the poolside and, importantly, have an understanding of their own ability and basic water safety."

The STA classes run on Mondays and Tuesdays from 4.15pm and on Saturday mornings from 7.45am.

Starfish classes for babies as young as six months are also available.

For more information call the Dome on 01302 370777.
