A DJ is furious after his car was trashed in a town centre car park.
John Hemmant, of Thorne, returned to his Peugeot 206 convertible after a night working at Trilogy nightclub to find it had been smashed up and scratched to the tune of more than £5,000 worth of damage.
The 26-year-old immediately drove his damaged
vehicle, which had serious dents to its boot and side panels, to Doncaster police station to report the incident.
But Mr Hemmant, who claims police have so far failed to check closed circuit television footage of the Frances Street NCP-owned car park, is furious that the offenders look set to get off scot free.
"I just don't think it's very good," he said. "It doesn't really take much effort to check a few hours worth of CCTV footage on one camera.
"I would really like to see who has done this and hopefully have them identified.
"This is why so much crime happens because they keep getting away with it. The vandals are laughing at the justice system."
The DJ has since had to get a taxi to Trilogy nightclub on Silver Street where he has worked for the last 14 months while his car is repaired.
A spokesman for South Yorkshire Police said: "Criminal damage and anti-social behaviour in Doncaster town centre are key priorities for police and partners.
"To date criminal damage has been reduced by 23 per cent in this area this year.
"Operation Alligator run by South Yorkshire Police works with partners to tackle alcohol- related crime in the town centre at peak times.
"However, incidents do still occur occasionally and damage was caused to a silver Peugeot cabriolet on Frances Street in Doncaster town centre overnight on Saturday, September 27.
"Anyone with information is urged to call Doncaster Crime Management Unit on 01302 385135 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
