DONCASTER Minster continued its' 150th anniversary celebrations with an Indian-themed extravaganza bursting with culture and colour.
A whole host of Indian themed activities and attractions were available on Saturday, attracting large crowds eager to take advantage of the free event.

Performances from Kiran Arts Indian Dance Group, as well as tasty Indian snacks, henna hand-painting, and a charity auction were just some of the highlights at the 'Taste of India' event'.

The event was held to raise money for the Minster's adopted charity Wheel of Hope, to encourage destitute children in India to go to school.

And an impressive £1,000 was raised for the charity on the day.

Wheel of Hope was set up in 2000 by David Calvert-Orange and Pamela Nolan as a Cricket Club, the idea being if a child joined the Club all the expenses of education would be paid. This has now evolved into a full scale Tuition Centre which now caters for over 70 children in two centres. The charity also sponsors a choir, a dance project, and medical help office.

The event is just one of many that will take place throughout the year to mark the 150th anniversary of one of the borough's most treasured buildings.
