MEET Conisbrough's answers to Kasparov!
These three bright sparks have qualified for the area finals of a nationwide chess tournament.

The Northcliffe School pupils triumphed over the opposition in a Swiss style rankings tournament organised at the school by learning mentor James Ferguson.

Michael Howell, 12 qualifies as the overall winner of the competition with a score of 20 out of 21 while brothers Louis, 11 and Liam Walker, 14, came through as lower and upper school winners respectively.

The trio will now progress to the North East Mega Final which would lead to an appearance in a northern final later this year.
