Briggs, who has caught the eye with a series of excellent displays this season, scored thirteen second half points as the Dons battled back from a 12-0 deficit.

It was their sixth straight league win - maintaining their two point advantage at the top of National League Two.

The determined home side repulsed three early Doncaster sets and it set the platform for them to open the scoring through centre Rob Spicer on 12 minutes, Ryan Esders kicking the conversion.

York player boss Paul March extended his side's lead nine minutes later and, although Esders failed to add the extras, the centre kicked a penalty to hand Knights a 12-0 lead by the half hour mark.

But the Dons maintained a disciplined approach and were rewarded with two late first half tries.

Captain Peter Green forced his way over, Briggs adding the kick to halve the deficit, before a piece of magic from Briggs on the stroke of half time set up a try for winger Dean Colton.

Briggs converted to level the scores at the interval.

York drew first blood in the second half when Esders kicked a penalty but Doncaster increased the pressure with centres Zeb Luisi and Andreas Bauer always prominent in attack.

After a powerful run from Bauer, the centre released Briggs to dance through on 58 minutes - putting the Dons ahead for the first time in the match.

Briggs scored his second try six minutes later, racing 30 metres after intercepting a loose York pass, and added both conversions to put his team 24-14 ahead.

Five minutes from time he had the final word with a cheeky drop goal.
