Welcome break for Dons

ASSISTANT coach Tony Miller believes a free weekend will benefit Doncaster when they resume their National League Two promotion push.
The unbeaten leaders were scheduled to play title rivals Barrow Raiders tomorrow night but the Cumbrians' involvement in the Challenge Cup has handed Ellery Hanley's men a rare weekend off.
Barrow, who face Super League side Wakefield on Sunday, are the only other side to still hold a 100 per cent winning record and it would have been an interesting clash between two of the favourites for promotion.
But Miller still believes it is a timely break for the squad.
He said: "It is disappointing not to be playing - especially as we're in such good form - but it gives the players opportunity to recover from a few bumps and bruises.
"We've played a lot of rugby over the last few months without a break, including back-to-back games over Easter.
"We've not got a big squad so it will be good for us to recharge our batteries."
By the time the Dons travel to Workington on May 18 for their next match Aussie centre Chris McKenna could be back in contention after his hamstring problem and fellow three-quarter Zeb Luisi (knee), not 100 per cent fit despite playing in the last two outings, should have fully recovered.
Also grateful for a rest is Kiwi star Corey Lawrie after he suffered concussion in Bank Holiday Monday's 25-14 win at York City Knights.
Miller said: "He took a knock on the head but he'll be fine.
"He's also picked up a few niggles over the season so it'll give him time to recover."
Lawrie was voted NL2 Player of the Month for April this week, an award that was won by Dons stand off Kyle Briggs the previous month, and Miller paid tribute to the influential hooker.
He said: "It's thoroughly deserved because Corey has been outstanding all year.
"He gives 100 per cent every match and is always on the front foot.
"We've got a few key players but he has certainly been one of them - he has been massive for us.
"It's good for him individually but it reflects well on the whole team."
A 17-point haul from Briggs led the Dons to a hard fought victory at York, who belied their lowly league position to push the table-toppers all the way.
Briggs scored two second half tries, as well as four conversions and a drop goal, as Doncaster battled back from a 12-0 deficit to maintain their two point advantage at the top of NL2.
York led through tries from centre Rob Spicer, and player boss Paul March, with two goals from Ryan Esders handing them a healthy advantage by the half hour mark.
But the Dons maintained a disciplined approach - despite the best efforts of a physical York side to unsettle them - and levelled with two late first half tries from captain Peter Green and winger Dean Colton.
York drew first blood in the second half when Esders kicked a penalty but Briggs' 58th minute try put Doncaster ahead for the first time.
