A BATTLE royal is set to take place this Sunday when Premier Division heavyweights Branton Juniors and Carcroft Village Juniors slug it out for the League Cup.
Last season's beaten finalists Branton are aiming to lift the trophy this time around but are sure to be given a tough test by their Carcroft counterparts.

Both sides are currently fighting for the league title and second placed Carcroft sit just
two points behind leaders Branton - but do have a vital game in hand.

This season's head-to-head record between the teams sees Branton hold the advantage after following up a 3-1 home success in October with a valuable point in January's 2-2 draw at Carcroft.

Branton's cup journey did not start smoothly as they needed extra time to overcome Conisbrough in the first round but moved up a gear with a 7-1 win at Scawthorpe in the next stage.

A narrow 3-2 victory against Harworth put them into the last four, where they beat Tickhill 7-0 to reach their second successive final.

After early round wins over Hi-Way Colts and Doncaster Pumas, Carcroft booked their place with successive 3-2 triumphs.

They sneaked past Edenthorpe Juniors in the quarter-finals before recording the same scoreline against semi-final opponents Sprotbrough and Cusworth Crusaders to claim their prestigious final spot.
