ROVERS crashed out of the Carling Cup at the first hurdle after a forgettable night at Meadow Lane.
An extra time winner from substitute Myles Weston was enough to sink Sean O'Driscoll's side and send the League Two outfit through to round two.

A much-changed Rovers line up, including new boys James Chambers, Jos van Nieuwstadt and John Spicer, struggled to create chances and raise their game to the heights they achieved at Derby on Saturday.

And they were made to pay in the first minute of the second period of extra time when Weston latched on to a pass from Jay Smith and rifled a shot past Neil Sullivan to settle the tie.

Gareth Roberts hit the bar with a free kick during a frustrating first half as Rovers were mainly restricted to long range efforts against a determined County outfit.

Team: Sullivan, Chambers, Hird, Van Nieuwstadt, Roberts, Wilson, Wellens (Woods 78), Spicer (Coppinger 78), Guy, Heffernan, Hayter (Elliott 61). Unused subs: Smith, O'Connor, Mills, Lockwood.
