AMBITIOUS Don-caster Knights have strengthened their pack with the addition of experienced Frenchman Allam Boume-dienne, writes Paul Goodwin.
The 28-year-old forward joins from French Second Division side Blagnac after a career spent chiefly in his home country's top flight.

He is a powerful second row who can also provide cover in the number eight position.

Knights director of rugby Lynn Howells said: "In France this boy is described as 'a bit of a handful', but I'm sure he will buckle down and be a great addition to the pack this season."

Boumedienne spent last season at Blagnac but decided to move to Castle Park after his club was punished for financial irregularities.

He spent the previous year as an integral part of the Barcelona side that won the Spanish championship.

After starting his career at Toulon, Boumedienne also enjoyed spells in the French First Division with Narbonne and Auch and operated at lock forward for a season at Second Division Tarbes.

Knights play Premiership side Worcester Warriors in their first pre-season friendly at Castle Park on August 17.
