A POWERFUL batting display paved the way for Doncaster Town's fourth straight Yorkshire League win.
Man of the match Graham Attenborough (72), Andrew Chadwick (94) and Paul Goodwin (65) each took advantage of a dry Driffield deck to help post an impressive 293 for five in 55 overs.
And the home side, who finished a massive 111 runs short, never
looked like reaching their imposing target - but held on bravely to prevent a determined Doncaster outfit from collecting a maximum eight points.
Skipper Attenborough, who later took 3 for 40 with the ball, set the tone for a free scoring Town innings with a typically swashbuckling knock of 72, including 15 fours, in sunny conditions against a predominantly spin attack.
And when he departed with the score on 116-2, left hander Paul Goodwin and stroke maker Andrew Chadwick piled on the misery for the home side by adding 94 for the third wicket.
Goodwin eventually departed for a career best 65 attempting another big drive, while the energetic Chadwick fell just six runs short of a century - his easy-on-the-eye 94 coming from just 85 balls.
Left armer Attenborough was quickly in the thick of the action in the field as he struck early, and then twice in two balls, to leave Driffield struggling on 51-3.
Joe Fraser (52) and Will Norman, who was dropped before falling victim to off spinner Luke Townsend, briefly offered hope of a remarkable run chase against an attack minus an injured Kashif Raza.
But when experienced spinner Paul Stokoe, who finished with tidy figures of 2 for 32, trapped Fraser in front, the game was effectively over as a contest.
Third placed Doncaster host last season's champions York at Town Fields on Saturday (noon) and travel to Clifton Village CC of Nottingham in the second round of the ECB National Knockout on Sunday.
