There was a tension around the tiny Cheltenham ground as kick-off time approached for a match that both teams needed to win.
Three points would clinch a place in the Championship for Doncaster but could mean relegation for the home side.

Rovers fans had only been allocated 1,554 tickets for the game but many more travelled down to sample the atmosphere and they were all in good voice before the start.

Doncaster received a big boost before the game when midfield playmaker Brian Stock was passed fit after looking doubtful with an ankle injury all week.

It enabled Sean O'Driscoll to name an unchanged side following last week's 2-0 win over Luton.

There was just one change on the substitutes bench where James Hayter returned in place of Stuart Elliott.

Teams:

Cheltenham Town:
Higgs, Gill, Duff, Gillespie, Connor, S Brown, Bird, Vincent, Keogh, Wright, Russell. Subs: S P Brown, Connolly, Lindegaard, Armstrong, D'Agostino.

Doncaster Rovers:
Sullivan, O'Connor, G Roberts, Stock, McCammon, Taylor, Wellens, Green, Hird, Mills, Coppinger. Subs: Lee, Guy, Hayter, Heffernan, Price.

Referee: Lee Mason (Lancashire)
