Bank Holiday hat trick for Town

IN-FORM Doncaster Town are through to the second round of the ECB Cockspur National Cup - after a memorable Bank Holiday hat trick.
Minus ineligible Pakistan paceman Kashif Raza, Town's youngsters proved far too strong for York Senior League side Beverley to earn a trip to face Clifton Alliance on May 18.
And Sunday's comfortable four wicket win was sandwiched between two even more impressive results as Graham Attenborough's men defeated Scarborough and then Sheffield Collegiate to go joint second in the early Yorkshire League table.
In a game reduced to 43 overs Beverley toiled against the Town Moor attack and mustered only 133 for 8 as Dominic McGough stepped up from the second XI to take 3 for 23, and both Alex Gosney and Andrew Parkin-Coates chipped in with two wickets apiece.
The home side then reached their target with 14 overs still remaining - although Beverley did claim six scalps.
Gareth Phillips returned to the side to make 34, while Chris Cusack guided his team home with an unbeaten 27.
On Saturday Town looked to be staring defeat in the face when a Scarborough side featuring Yorkshire stars Craig White, Adam Lyth and James Finch skittled them for 137.
Andrew Parkin-Coates (64) was again the mainstay of the visitors' innings.
But the club's early season spirit was underlined by a faultless display in the field as Attenborough (2 for 5), Paul Stokoe (2 for 6) and Alex Gosney (2 for 11) performed heroics with the ball to send the home side packing for just 87.
The winning run continued on Monday as Sheffield Collegiate were the victims of a nailbiting six points success.
Batting first Collegiate made 174 for 9 with Raza the pick of the bowlers, taking 2 for 18 in 12 overs, before hitting the winning runs with just seven balls to spare.
Skipper Attenborough held the home side together with a superb knock of 93, while youngster James Stuart also made an invaluable 20.
Town travel to winless Driffield on Saturday two points behind early league leaders Barnsley.
