A CANNABIS factory in a leafy suburb of Doncaster has been smashed by police.
Officers seized 552 plants worth at least tens of thousands of pounds during the raid in Stoops Lane, Bessacarr.

Officers entered the house after smelling cannabis and disturbed two men.

A 31-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of production of cannabis.

Det Con Mick Blunt said, "This is a really good example of local officers patrolling the area and detecting serious crime. We ask members of the community to be vigilant and look out for signs such as curtains closed all the time, residents rarely seen during the day and unusual smells coming from the house, to assist in the detection of these kinds of offences."

The discovery was made by police patrolling the area at around 1am on Monday, February 1, police said.
