WARM WELCOME: Project manager Phil Hayes greets visitors to Terrace Gardens in Doncaster.

CARERS are invited to take their first look inside a new centre next month before its official opening this spring.

Designed to provide day care with a difference, Terrace Gardens offers elderly guests home-cooked meals, online activities, a comfortable lounge and a patio garden with views of Conisbrough Castle.

The centre’s extended opening hours, including weekends, will give carers the flexibility to work or fulfil other responsibilities while their relatives enjoy company and new experiences in a safe and sociable environment.

Set up by Doncaster West Development Trust, the facility aims to support families who juggle demanding commitments by offering a home from home for their relatives.

DWDT project manager Phil Hayes: “We carried out a great deal of research into this project and found there was a clear need locally to provide a more extensive service to support older people and their carers very practically,” he explained. The activities we offer will be determined to a large extent by our guests,” said Phil.

The open day is between 11am and 1pm on March 6. To find out more, drop in during the open day in Castle Avenue, or telephone: 01709 866466 or visit www.terracegardens.org.uk
