RESIDENTS are helping to improve their flexibility and core strength at a weekly pilates class.

The sessions, held at Imperial Hall in Epworth, attract visitors young and old, all seeking to improve their fitness.

Instructor Jill Allen puts the class through their paces every Tuesday from 9.30am until 10.30am.

The exercises involve a range of movements aimed at increasing strength in the legs, arms, stomach, hips and back.

The mum-of-two from West Butterwick said: “It is a great way of staying fit and involves movements like no other form of exercise.

“We do stretches to classical music, which is all aimed at improving core strength in a relaxing atmosphere.

“We get about a dozen people coming to the sessions. The exercises really help older people in particular but the class is open to people of all ages.

“If you get your core muscles right then this helps with posture and reduces the chance of suffering from aches and pains.”
