Thanks so much Yorkshire Water

I RECENTLY contacted Yorkshire Water via email on behalf of a number of local residents over their concerns regarding a number of blocked drains in Bentley.

A member of their services team, Ann Kishuk, contacted me by phone and within a couple of days a drainage engineer came to visit me and acted swiftly to clear the drains in question.

It was a great example of co-ordinated team work by Yorkshire Water and on behalf of Bentley residents I would like to say a big thank you to them.

On the question of water and the need for recycling it, today's rains (April 27) couldn't have come at a better time - my seven 200-litre capacity water butts over the allotment, all fed by water collected from my growing houses and shed, were getting rather dry, however I wonder how many, if any, of the large storage outlets and distribution warehouses in and around Doncaster collect and recycle rainwater to use on site?

I believe these facilities are major contributors to localised flooding through excessive surface water being fed into drains, dykes and streams across many areas that are under DMBC's umbrella.
