Prince's Trust needs your help

A RECENT Centre for Cities report warned that youth unemployment is set to treble by 2011.

Doncaster had one of the highest increases in the percentage of young people claiming Jobseekers' Allowance.

Nearly nine per cent of the town's 16 to 24-year-olds are claiming the benefit, making it the second worst hit in the UK - highlighting the continued importance of the work undertaken in Doncaster by youth charity The Prince's Trust.

Charities like The Prince's Trust need support now more than ever to help young people find jobs.

In the past year, calls from young people to our local offices have increased more than 50 per cent and we want to be able to support those people in need.

This year, The Prince's Trust aims to help 3,500 of the region's unemployed young people, giving them the confidence and motivation to find work.

In Yorkshire and The Humber, a further 100,000 14-30-year-olds have underachieved at school or are unemployed - a figure representing a tenth of this age group.

Without schemes like these to get them back into work, education or training, these young people face a downward spiral towards a loss of self-confidence and even crime. To find out more go to www.princes-trust.org.uk or call 0800 842 842.
